Title: Quick Violet
Description: Black-Chinned Hummingbird hovering just above feeder, which is just below the frame.
Black-Chinned Hummingbird. But the title is wrong. This bird's gorget is a virtually pure blue iridescence. So I guess I was mistaken when I titled this photo. Anyway, he is quick, and at least I was on the right end of the spectrum.

Subject: Black-Chinned Hummingbird scientific name Archilochus Alexandri. A nectar feeder and potted salvia was used to attract hummingbirds.
Location: Bog Springs Campground, Madera Canyon, Coronado National Forest, near Green Valley Arizona and Tucson. This bird is common from California to Texas
Photographic Technique: High Speed flash photography in an outdoor studio, using a custom built four head Olsen Ultra flash at 1/2 power 1/33000 second flash duration. White cardboard background. Usually at 1/200th second shutter speed (sync speed). F16 or above. (F22 is preferred). Canon 100mm macro lens F2.8 USM. Canon 5D body. Tripods for camera, flashes, and perhaps feeder and background.
Date/Time: 04/14/2010 1:07pm, if I remembered to set my camera's clock for this time zone.
